For six weeks I interned in Copenhagen, Denmark for the Russian based, woman-owned clothing company Odevaiwear. Throughout the duration of six weeks, four UT Austin peers and I were able to research Scandinavian fashion methods in Copenhagen. We applied our findings and worked in the labs of KEA- Copenhagen School of Design and Technology, to design a five piece apparel collection consisting of two jackets, one pair of pants, one top, and one jumpsuit. With a heavy emphasis on modular design, in the end we created a gender neutral, plus-size, sustainable collection from up-cycled and deadstock fabrics. We collaborated with other UT Austin interns designing bio based materials. They created buttons, beads, and earrings derived from agar, gelatin, and activated charcoal for our collection.
